Department of Treasury
The Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) oversees sanctions and embargoes on certain countries in support of U.S. national security or U.S. foreign policy. These regulations are country-specific or group-specific and tend to be very restrictive. OFAC also imposes restrictions on individuals, groups, organizations, and other entities (domestic and international) that they have deemed to be involved in illicit activities.
